As the sea sighs.
I have returned so often to this subject, the wide beach at low tide, the children, solitary in there personal absorption, the grey, almost sunny sky sparkling over the rippled sand and water.
It is almost abstract, and yet harks to nature and the quietness of mind.
This painting is quite big, measuring 146cm wide, allowing the viewer to almost fall into the painting.
It is a painting of memories: of my childhood by the sea in Ireland,
of the sea close to where I live here in France,
of my own children, and now grandchildren as they play and watch the waves.
And perhaps above all it is about the sea, its eternal sighing as days and years pass. ..
